Q: What is Xen3D™ Technology?
A: Luxul Xen High Performance Access Points are powered by Luxul’s patented Xen3D™ Technology. Xen3D increases the output power by 10X and enhances data throughput and coverage by as much as 400% over traditional Wi-Fi gear, providing for whole home or small office coverage with a single access point. It also improves connectivity with mobile client devices and eliminates roaming issues associated with traditional Wi-Fi networks. For more information about Xen3D, see the Simple and Affordable “Whole-Home” Wireless Network Coverage case study.

Q: What is XenConnect™?
A: The Luxul Xen family is designed for simple out-of-the-box installation and plug-and-play connectivity. When a product is XenConnect enabled, no configuration or setup is required to work seamlessly with other Luxul Xen products.

Q: What is XenSmart™?
A: XenSmart™ is a web-based management interface available for use with all Luxul Xen Access Points, Smart Switches and Router solutions. XenSmart provides a simple and intuitive interface for enabling and managing advanced features such as QoS, VLANs, Network Security and VPN.

Q: What is a Circular Polarized antenna and what are the advantages?
A: Simply put, a Circular Polarized (CP) antenna broadcasts the signal in a circular pattern, as opposed to the traditional linear pattern of other Wi-Fi antennas. Whereas linear antennas broadcast in a single plane (either vertical or horizontal), a CP antenna broadcasts in ALL planes, providing significant advantages including a more stable connection with mobile client devices, superior penetration of obstacles, and the ability to maintain higher overall data rates.

Q: How much performance improvement can I expect when using a Luxul Xen AP?
A: High Performance Luxul Xen APs increases the output power by 10X and enhance data throughput and coverage by as much as 400% over traditional Wi-Fi gear. Actual coverage and performance depends on environment, building construction and other factors.

Q: What is a WAP?
A: In computer networking, a Wireless AP (WAP or AP) is a device that allows wireless communication devices (Laptops, Handheld Scanners, etc) to connect to a wireless network using a Wi-Fi signal. The WAP usually connects to a wired network that is connected to a broadband source (cable, DSL, T1, etc) and can relay data between the wireless devices and wired devices on the network.

Q: What is the difference between a High Power Access Point and the Luxul Access Point?
A: There are two main benefits to the Luxul Xen Wireless Access Point technology. First, the Luxul Access Point allows for clean signal amplification of a full 1000mW (FCC limit for transmitted power) of power while maintaining high data rates. Contrast this with other High Power Access Points which simply increases the output power of the radio to a level that is higher than that of a typical AP and may only reach the FCC transmit power limit for the lowest data rates. Second, Luxul Xen Access Points incorporate a bi-directional signal boosting capability, which means not only is the outgoing signal enhanced, but the incoming signal from client devices as well. This helps ensure that client devices with weaker radio and antenna technologies are able to communicate with the network at greater distances. High Power Access Points only focus on pushing the signal out as far as possible—appearing as if there is a strong signal, but lacking the receive sensitivity for a client device to actually connect and effectively use the network.

Q: Do Luxul Xen APs support 802.11n?
A: Yes, all Luxul Xen APs are based on IEEE 802.11n standards and backwards compatible with 802.11b/g.

Q: What is a Router and why do I need one?
A: A Router manages traffic between IP Networks. All devices accessing the internet require an IP address. Typically, each business or home Internet connection has only one address but multiple devices that require Internet access. A Router allows the network to use a single public address on the Internet with a range of private addresses for all devices attached to the local network. This allows multiple devices to be connected while still using just one public address to access the Internet. Routers also provide critical services in the private network such as DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), DNS (Domain Name System) and NAT (Network Address Translation). Routers also typically function as a firewall protecting your private network from intrusions and some (like the Luxul Xen
